2 girlies take on emerald city
48 Hours in Seattle

Seattle, WA
Abby, my great friend from Alaska, and I were casually discussing at dinner how badly we wanted to go see Post Malone in the fall of 2022. Now, if you are ever around me and you even make the slightest mention of a trip, I will have it completely planned in 30 minutes. And this was exactly one of those moments. I went home after dinner and began researching flights and hotels within the proximity of the concert venue. Concert tickets were bought first, followed by plane tickets, and a hotel reservation.
Estimate Prices (2022):
- Plane tickets roundtrip from Anchorage to Seattle $250
- Citizen M Hotel (2 nights) $200/person
- Roundtrip uber from Seattle Airport $50/person
- Dinner & Drinks $30-40/person
- Lime Electric Scooter Rentals- priceless fun & laughs
We left on a Friday morning and returned Sunday mid-day. The concert was on Saturday night, which left us all of Friday and most of Saturday to do the typical tourist exploring. We did not need to rent a car due to the walkability of the Seattle, as well as access to e-bikes, e-scooters, and Ubers/Lyfts. Aside from the Uber needed to/from the airport into the city, we never had to use Uber otherwise. We typically walked everywhere, but if it was over a mile, we rented the Lime e-scooters, which were insanely fun, cheap, and convenient.
We stayed at the Citizen M hotel because of location, price, and unique style. All the designs in the hotel are funky and fun! The rooms are small, kind of like hostels, but more upscale- perfect for a trip where you will only be in your room for sleeping. Once we dropped our bags around 10am, we hit the ground running. Our first stop was the iconic Pike Place Market. We did lots of browsing of the pretty flower arrangements and the fish throwing. We had some incredible clam chowder atop a bed of fries and oysters. Finished off our lunch with Piroshky Piroshky apple cinnamon rolls.
Nearby is the gum wall, which is equal parts exhilarating and disgusting. But of course, we bought gum specifically for this to add to the wall. From there, we went to the Starbucks Reserve Roastery. This Starbs has an incredible menu of coffee and cocktails. We spent quite some time here enjoying the atmosphere and the drinks. We walked around this neighborhood and found lovely plant stores and the cutest cat cafe- Neko Cat Cafe. From there, we ended up at Tapster which is a self-pouring taste room. You get a card and scan for which ever drink you want and however much of it you want and pay at the end. It’s such a cool concept and such a great vibe. That is it for day one!

Day two brought us to the Space Needle to start the day. We purchased the combo ticket that included the Space Needle and the Chihuly Garden and Glass for about $35. The Space Needle gives spectacular views of the city and has the see-through rotating floor you can stand and pose with. Though Abby has a fear of heights, she was a trooper and we had a great time taking tons of pictures and admiring the city. The Chihuly Garden and Glass was not on my list of things to do, but it was a beautiful addition. This place makes for great pictures and admiring the work of the artists. There is also a great view of the Space Needle since you are at the base of it.
We then ventured to the Museum of Pop Culture. Tickets are about $30ish here as well. This is a cool place to visit if you enjoy music and pop culture, which we both did! There is a lot to see and learn about, so I definitely recommend if you have the time. We wanted to get to Kerry Park, which is uphill and further out from downtown because it is known for the view of the Emerald City- and it did not disappoint. We pushed our e-scooters to the limit going up these big hills, but it made for such funny memories!
In between all these stops were countless coffee stops at local coffee shops, but when in doubt, there is a Starbucks literally everywhere you turn. We were fueled by caffeine the entire trip. Once the tourist stops were checked off the list, we got ready for our concert at our hotel, followed by margaritas and Mexican food and took ourselves to the concert on the e-scooters. No need to deal with traffic while on these bad boys!
After we screamed, cried, yelled, and shouted at the Post Malone Twelve Carat Toothache concert at Climate Pledge Arena, we spent our last night at the Citizen M Hotel. The last thing we did before our flight was go to Biscuit Bitch for a breakfast sandwich. This place is very popular, hence the 45 minute wait for a breakfast sandwich. So if you plan on going there, plan ahead of time! Great food, just a typical tourist trap with a long wait.
For 48 hours in Seattle, we did every touristy thing most people think of when they think of Seattle. Next time you have a layover or are near Seattle, I definitely recommend going into downtown to see for yourself. The energy there is electric, and I am definitely looking forward to going again.
